This Seth Thomas Adamantine mantel clock features a classic architectural silhouette, finished in a deep black veneer with striking faux-marble inlays on the crown and base. The front panel is decorated with gold-tone incised floral scrolls, and the case sits on four detailed, scrolled cast metal feet. Movement: 8-day brass mechanical movement, Made in U. Case Material: Wood with and cast metal hardware. Features: Roman numeral dial, decorative brass-tone bezel, and rear bell strike. Mechanical: The clock is in working condition. It has been tested and successfully runs until the spring winds down.. It has run for several days without any stopping.. While it is currently operational, it has not been tested for long-term timekeeping accuracy and may require the standard cleaning or adjustment expected of a mechanical movement of this vintage. Case: The Adamantine finish remains glossy with vibrant color. There is a small chip in the veneer on the lower-left corner of the base, and the cream-colored dial shows a natural aged patina and foxing. This is an antique Ansonia #5 clock open escapement movement, with ruby jeweled pallets, for a slate or marble clock with pendulum, hands, and key. This movement is not made or intended for a porcelain, cast iron, or wooden clock. This movement includes the hands, pendulum, and key. It has been timed correctly to match the pendulum. Dial is complete with clean glass, has no chips, original w/ beveled edge. This dial and movement come from the same clock and are a matching pair. Pendulum bob is original. The 2 ruby pallets are original. This is a #5 movement. This number is stamped into the brass on the rear of the movement. The needed distance from the center of the dial to top of the sound board is 5 1/2 This is to accommodate the length of the pendulum. The movement fits into a hole on the front of the clock that is 4 1/4″ to 4 1/2″ in diameter and this marble faceplate of the clock is 1/2 thick. This movement has been disassembled, repaired, and ultrasonically cleaned. New main springs installed. Movement repaired with new bushings. This also has a new suspension spring. Dial has been cleaned. Comes with the 3 screws for mounting the dial and movement to the clock. The last photo shows an Ansonia marble faceplate and how it should look. All of my restored mantel clock movements are completely disassembled, cleaned, repaired, timed and checked for 2 weeks minimum. They also come with the pendulum, key, and hands. The following measurements were taken “Center to Center”. Distance between 2 winding holes is 2 3/4. Distance between winding hole and center is 1 3/4. Distance between center and fast/slow adjustment is 2 1/8. Clearance needed from hand shaft to bottom of pendulum is approx. If you are replacing a movement, note the position of the hammer that strikes your gong. My movements also come with instructions on how to set the beat once you install it in your clock. Plus, I give other info on troubleshooting. You also get my contact info in case you have any questions, problems, or concerns. I’ll be happy to work with you if you have any problems. If you have a complete movement and wish to have it rebuilt, I can do this. Please send me a photo of your movement. It’s ticking (maybe just a little fast) with a light push to the pendulum and the bell dings too. No wind up key included. A classic Seth Thomas Adamantine mantel clock in the popular temple-style case with green faux-marble (adamantine celluloid) finish and paired cream-colored marble columns – one of the most iconic American shelf clock designs of the late Victorian and Edwardian era, made at the Seth Thomas factory in Thomaston, Connecticut (established 1813). Brand: Seth Thomas – dial reads Made by Seth Thomas in U. Adamantine celluloid finish in deep green with white veining over wood case. Six decorative cream marble-finish columns flanking the dial. Ornate brass feet with scroll detail, brass dial surround with egg-and-dart bezel. Original paper dial with Arabic numerals. 8-day brass spring-driven movement with bell strike, pendulum and coiled gong present. Original paper directions label still adhered to rear of case (torn but legible). Part label number visible: 295-C M. The case shows expected age and honest wear: the adamantine finish has surface crazing, chips, and losses consistent with 120+ years of display; the rear of the case is dusty and has some white residue. The movement is present and appears intact with all visible gears, the bell, pendulum bob, and coil spring, but has not been tested and should be serviced by a clockmaker before use. Overall a handsome, displayable example of a sought-after American antique clock.

This antique Seth Thomas Adamantine Mantle clock was patented in 1880. A family heirloom of ours. It has a very pleasant chime on the hour and a ding on the half hour. I have wound this up and it is still running at day 8. It has such a pretty and soothing sound. The base is wood with faux green marble and black. Beautiful brass accents on the feet, lions heads, columns and the clock face dial and door. Measures 17 inches long x 7.25 inches wide by 11.25 inches tall. This comes from my smoke-free and pet-free home. Please ask and I will do my best to answer it.
