This antique Waterbury Crystal Gilt Bronze Strike Regulator Clock is a stunning piece with a Victorian style. It features a brass frame with intricate engravings and a combination of Arabic and Roman numerals on the clock face. The clock is powered by a spring key wound mechanism and has a gong chime sequence. This mechanical clock is an original piece from 1878, made in the United States, and comes with features such as an 8-day movement. The elegant gold finish and crystal design make it a beautiful addition to any room. High 10″, width 6.5″, depth 5.5. Weight 6 Lbs 10 Oz. The clock strikes on the half hour and the hours. This is a beautiful antique Seth Thomas 8-Day Mantel/Shelf Clock. It is a crystal Regulator clock. The face is marked Made by Seth Thomas in U. On the back of the clock works is marked’ST’ -‘U. The double barrel pendulum is not filled with mercury. The clock in excellent vintage condition, i. T runs and keeps time nicely, and chimes beautifully. The brass case is in good antique condition, no chips, no cracks, no damage. The four beveled glass panels are in good condition. The face is in good condition with some stains. It measures 9 3/4″ tall and 6 1/4″ wide by 5 deep. A must for the clock collector. And a wonderful display piece. As can be expected when dealing with an mechanical clocks. Check out my other items. 15.5 gilt bronze Seth Thomas Art Nouveau Clock – Runs. Fresh from a clock collector’s estate sale this clock looks great. It has a woman’s head right under the porcelain dial (nice dial). The photo of the movement is without the pendulum in place. Clock was not over wound on either side when I got it from the estate. I really don’t know much about the clock, check out all the photos. There are no chips or cracks to the case. Clock is currently running. There is normal wear to the gilt on the high spots and bronze showing under the gilt. The last photo shows the bronze showing under the gilt right on the crest. I have shown pics of the pendulum and the bottom of the clock which do look somewhat jury rigged. On the back of the clock works is marked’Made in US America. The double barrel pendulum is not filled with mercury. The clock in excellent vintage condition, i. T runs and keeps time nicely, and chimes beautifully. The brass case is in good antique condition, no chips, no cracks, no damage. The four beveled glass panels are in good condition. The face is in good condition with some stains. It measures 11″ tall and 6 3/4″ wide by 5 1/4 deep. A must for the clock collector. And a wonderful display piece. Would have a place in any collection. Antique Seth Thomas clocks are treasured by clock collectors and antiques lovers who value craft and sophistication. Seth Thomas, born 1785, was an amateur clockmaker who began his career in earnest when he moved to Plymouth, Connecticut. In 1853, Thomas incorporated his business as the Seth Thomas Clock Company. Though an innovator when it came to production techniques and business, he was rather conservative when it came to the appearance of his clocks. After his death in 1859, Thomas’ sons Seth Jr. And Aaron were quick to introduce new clock styles. Today, you can see the company’s late 19th-century creativity in handsome antique wall clocks, regulators, spring-driven clocks, and clocks with calendars. Seth Thomas responded to the French challenge with its own line of marble clocks (1887 to 1895) and iron clocks finished in black enamel (1892 to 1895). But the Seth Thomas response that is best known today is its Adamantine black mantel clock, which debuted in 1892. Adamantine was a veneer developed by the Celluloid Manufacturing Company to replicate the look of wood, onyx, and, most importantly, marble. The Seth Thomas Adamantine mantel clocks were popular enough to remain in production until 1917. Another trend from the late 19th century was the practice of naming a clock after international cities. Seth Thomas did that, too, using names like Milan, Genoa, and Naples to evoke the style of a particular clock. The company also had a City Series of clocks named after U. T Even Utica got its own clock. The City Series was produced for roughly 40 years. Antique Seth Thomas clocks were also named after presidents (Lincoln, Garfield) and royalty (Victoria). Offering this rare and beautiful Art Nouveau mantel clock by Seth Thomas. It features a lithe fairy figure on one side of the clock’s pillar and a cherub on the other side. The fairy has a realistic face and body and moth-like wings, and the cherub is a typical Cupid-style figure with a mandolin. There are Art Nouveau motifs throughout, from the sinuous feet to the pebbled texture of the pillar to the windblown ribbon to the scrolls and roses on top. There is normal gilt wear around the edges, but as you can see, the most notable wear to the piece is on top of the base where the gilt has worn away and there is verdigris/surface rust. But the majority of the clock is in nice condition for its age. There are no breaks, losses, or repairs. The clock face is complete and clean. The key is a vintage replacement from West Germany, but the works start right up upon winding. Truly a must-have for Seth Thomas fans and Art Nouveau collectors – I couldn’t find another example like it! Measures about 15″ tall and 8″ x 5 across the base. The case has a architectural design to it which looks stunning on display. It has a stepped base with 4 gilt metal feet and has 2 gilt metal pillars either side of the dial, all the mounts and feet have been refinished at some point. Their is a hinged back door with its original latch to hold it shut, this door gains you access to the movement. The finish to the case is totally original and has a beautiful age patina to it. Case is in excellent original condition for age and has a stunning display look. Original gilded embossed dial protected by its glazed brass bezel. Arabic numerals & original spade hands. Dial is in good original condition. Original American 8 day gong striking movement. Original anchor escapement with its original pendulum leader and pendulum. Movement is in full working order keeping time and striking the gong as it should as you can see in the video above. Original pendulum & new winding key.
