Hands – Steel – Original. Operating condition – I have many clocks to test and limited time to do so – Tested – I have ran for over 4 hours – the clock wound easy on both sides and kept good time during operation. Please understand i do not know the mechanical service history of this clock, and it MAY need service in the future for long term optimal operation. Features – Fancy slate with inlaid marble accents – Very heavy at 18+ lbs unboxed – All Original – 10″ tall X 15″ Wide – High Quality example. Clock Body – Condition is as seen – Please see ALL photos you be the judge. The top of the clock has had something sprayed on it, at first i thought it was paint but its not paint was something very fine, could be touched up and covered, but may take a solution to remove – No cracks or damage to be found in the housing. This antique French mantle clock is a beautiful addition to any collection. The clock features an open escapement and is made of slate and marble. The clock mechanism is made by Seth Thomas. The clock is not currently running. I think it was wound too tight. I can’t determine why there is a spot on the porcelain face that is distorted as it doesn’t appear to be damaged and is quite solid. Anyways, the clock displays very well and is a beautiful example of an early timepiece.

Up for sale is an Antique Waterbury Crystal Regulator Mantel Clock. The clock features 4 glass panels, a porcelain dial, an open escapement movement, and simulated mercury pendulum. The clock ran when tested, chiming on the hour and half hour. A note inside indicated that it was last serviced in May of 2018. Here is a recent estate find. This is a Rare Antique Working 19th Century SETH THOMAS’French Victorian Style’ Fancy Black Marble Slate Mantel Shelf Clock with Open Escapement, made in the USA. This Clock measures 14 1/2″ Wide x 11″ Tall x 6 5/8 Deep, and is Very Heavy and Weighs almost 42 Pounds (Packaged Weight)!!! This Has a Black Marble Slate Case with Red Marble Swirl Accents and Engraved Gold Gilt Designs. This has a Signed “Seth Thomas” Round Brass Mechanical 8 Day Wind-Up “Time & Strike” Mechanical Movement. This has a Cathedral Coil Spring Gong Chime, which Strikes Correctly. This Has a White Porceleain Dial with Black Roman Numerals and Open Escapement with Brass Trim and Center and Glass Bezel. The Dial is Signed “Seth Thomas” and Has Some Hairlines and Cracks, As Pictured. The Clock Runs and Keeps Time, and it Strikes Correctly, But Has Not Been Serviced. T he marble inserts displays well. The 4.5 porcelain dial is in very good condition. The 5.5bezel, and beveled glass are also in very good condition. The 8 day brass movement is clean and works correctly. T he strike side runs on a full wind for 6 days. The movement correctly strikes on a gong every half hour and full hour. The strikes are pleasantly resonating. Cleaned, serviced and tested, comes with a Seth winding key, an extra and original Seth adjustable pendulum. Both attractive and functional.
