Antique Seth Thomas “schoolhouse” clock. Was acquired with Shell oil logo around face which was removed as not thought to be original to the clock hence the glue spot damage to face. Has key and winds. When upright try’s to run as exemplified by the movement of the minute-hand in subsequent pictures. The pendulum arm has come out as shown in pictures and pendulum weight likely not original. Wood in good to very good condition for age. Needs some work but believe she will run again with little help from experienced clock person.

Antique Seth Thomas Plymouth Pre 1865 OGEE Connecticut Mechanical Wall Clock So when I got this it was in pretty rough shape. The back middle piece of wood was loose and I put it back on and lined up the chime. I had to glue some pieces back on and other pieces back into place. I oiled it and got it running but I couldn’t get the chime to work, it’s like the limiting mech is stuck or something cause it chimes a whole bunch and doesn’t stop. This includes the weights, Key and pendulum bob. It does keep time. Missing lots of the veneer and even more is peeling off. Probably need to rip it all off and put new veneer on. Some of the reverse paint on the glass is missing. It’s still a project clock but I think someone could make it beautiful. Please study High Definition Zoomable photos. I found this at a farm estate. However I could not locate a key. However when i pulled on the weights the gears did move. Some of the paint is starting to chip. The Chime was being finicky but I think it got it all worked out. Still running and chiming hours later. A beautiful clock but some damage in veneer on outside as well as some peeling of the paint. The glass is original handmade and wavy with an ripple imperfection in the top corner. SEE PHOTOS I have been informed that since this was made in Plymouth instead of Thomaston, This means that it was made by SETH THOMAS himself BEFORE 1860 when he died and the town name was changed to Thomaston.
