The clock is in very fine condition and complete it is in running and keeping very good time. Fitted with a Seth Thomas double spring, detached eleven jeweled escapement, compensating balance wheel, Breguet hairspring, cut steel pinions, and heavy milled solid brass plates. These movements were Seth Thomas’ very high end performers and where also used in their railroad clocks. The dial is engraved and silvered and is very clean. The clock movement is all housed in a solid heavy cast brass case with hinged plate glass bezel and keyed door lock. Note between the 5/6 o’clock position on the bezel there is a crease but is still all intact. Note: This clock is a rarer piece, per Seth Thomas original catalog these were a “High Grade” clock and double spring so if one spring broke the clock would continue to run until repair could be made. Not many of these are available and in very fine running condition. Includes a wind Key. Please see photos as they are part of the description. The strap decided to break when ready to sell. There are scraches and wear to the box. The lining is green and only shows a little staining. Underneath the bottom is stamped, pictured. Meadows 7 1/8″ tall x 8″ wide x 7 deep.

Antique SETH THOMAS Chronometer “Mark I Deck” 5 ½. US Navy Clock 1940. Theres only one kind of time in the U. In accordance with military specifications: 18C11c. Hinged front section and adjusted and wound in back. Clock is fitted in a swing left-open bezel. 8-day movement that is wound, set and adjusted through a slotted cover at the rear. A separate start/stop mechanism at the rear allows it to be synchronized with a master time piece. The removable vibration dampener is spring loaded and then attached to the bulkhead when the front of the case is removed by pulling its hinged pin. The front of the case also serves as a watertight closure and has a ridge that seals into a grove in a rubber gasket. The bezel is dogged by turning a chrome wing nut and all is secure. White luminous painted spade hands on a black dial with acid etched Arabic numerals in white. The tan dots at the top of the numbers are iridium for night. SETH THOMAS is etched below the lower rim number 6 hour mark. Great clock for the military horologist! The letter N inside a O signifies this clock has been certified by the U.
