Offered for sale is an antique Seth Thomas brass marine or bulkhead-style mechanical clock. Origin: Thomaston, Connecticut, United States. Movement type: One-day lever, time-and-strike movement. Escapement: Balance-wheel type rather than a pendulum. Case: Brass drum-style case with hinged glass bezel and mounting tabs. Dial: Silvered Roman-numeral dial with subsidiary seconds register. Approximate period: Late 19th to early 20th century. The exact catalog model and production year have not been confirmed because the movement was not removed from the case and no internal model number was located. Testing and Diagnostic Results. Both winding arbors were tested using a properly fitting universal clock key. Both arbors wind normally, produce audible ratchet clicks, and hold spring tension. The visible balance or escapement assembly located in the opening above the 12 moves slightly when additional winding tension is applied. The clock was held upright and gently rotated in an attempt to start the balance, but it did not begin sustained oscillation or produce continuous ticking. The clock does not presently run. The minute hand turns easily when advanced clockwise. No bell strike was heard while the hands were advanced during testing. Running duration, timekeeping accuracy, and strike sequence could not be tested. No internal disassembly, cleaning, lubrication, adjustment, or repair was attempted. No oil, penetrating fluid, or spray cleaner was applied to the movement. The exact cause of the non-running and non-striking conditions is unknown. Substantial age-related wear and loss to the original silvered dial finish. Numerous scratches, spots, discoloration, oxidation, and surface marks on the dial. Tarnish, patina, polishing marks, scratches, and general wear on the brass case. Areas of green oxidation or verdigris around portions of the case and hardware. Hands and subsidiary seconds hand are present. Hinged front bezel, latch, and mounting tabs are present. Original rear Seth Thomas paper label remains attached but is heavily worn, stained, cracked, and fragile. The clock measures approximately 6 3/4 inches across the case and approximately 3 1/2 inches deep, based on the photographed measurements. This clock is being offered in non-running condition as a restoration project. It should be considered in need of professional mechanical service or repair. SETH THOMAS PEMBROKE – 1921. One that I have ever seen on the public market. It has a nice chime on its Cathedral bell gong counting the hours and striking once on the half-hours. Just a beautiful tone that is pleasing to the ear. A simple yet beautiful design of the case allows this clock to go with any home décor. This clock comes with nice step up design at the base that runs along the front and the sides. A scroll like design that runs from the base corners and along the front edge to the 9 and 3 giving this clock a nice balance that is appealing to the eye. The Mahogany case has no man made character marks in it but the previous owner stripped it and had no choice but to shellac it myself. It turned out pretty nice as you can see in the pictures. The original silvered dial is in excellent condition with a nice 4 ½. Inch minute circle silvered and attached. The black Arabic numbers and the signature Seth Thomas diamond shaped hour and minute hands give this clock a classy look and the numbers can be read from a distance. The flat glass has no scratches or chips in it. Both the front and the back doors open and close properly as they should. Original bob with the 2-sided key comes with the clock. This clock features a half-hour strike rebuilt 15-day fine round movement No. 51 that strikes once on the half-hour and actual number of strikes on the top of each hour. This can be seen and heard on the video player that is provided on this listing. This clock will give years of enjoyment to you and your family and many years of enjoyment to pass on for your generations to come. Every aspect of this clock is fully functional. Disassemble the entire clock and movement myself completely. Install Seth Thomas parts ONLY on the movement as needed. All worn pivot holes with Bergeon bronze bushings as needed. Clock is in a really great shape. I don’t know a whole lot about the mechanisms of clocks. The pendulum seems to swing, but I don’t see the hands necessarily moving. Just looking at the mechanism it doesn’t seem to be damaged in any kind of way.

The clock is the Mayflower type and I was told it was made in the 1920’s or 30’s. Either way it keeps very good time, strike’s, 8 day wind and original unpolished chrome. The only thing I cannot do is shut off the strike. See all the pictures and this clock needs a home!

00 4-BELL – 1914. For offer is this beautiful Seth Thomas Chime Clock No. 00 4 bell Sonora that was produced in the year of 1914. The original adamantine finish on the Mahogany wood case is in great condition as the pictures will show. The adamantine finish along with the man made character marks on the top is considered in great shape and the shape of this clock is simple yet pleasing to the eye. This clock has a strong, smooth running, rebuilt 89 AE movement that. Been keeping excellent, consistent time for the past weeks. The 90 H Sonora movement has also been rebuilt and is functioning properly as it should. Both movements have an upgraded high polished back plate that have a mirror like finish. All the best features are on this model. Dark, Arabic numbers on a 5-inch silvered dial that shows little wear and gilt ornamental corners that can be clearly seen/read from a distance. Signature Seth Thomas Blue steel spade shaped hour and minute hands. Gilt brass feet at each corner bearing their original finish. No scratches or chips on the original flat glass. The original adamantine finish on the wood framed front door the panel back door opens and closes properly as they should. This model is equipped with 4-Sonora patented resonated bells. With silent chime lever for the quarter hour chimes only that you can see and hear each quarter hour followed by the full Westminster chime with hour strike in the video provided. The original boy on fence pendulum bob and the original two-sided key come with the clock. The back panel door has its original set up label/instruction on it. Being a model that is not seen often in the public market, along with having the original bob, instruction label and key make this clock very desirable and highly sought after. Every aspect of this clock is fully functional. Disassemble the entire clock and movements myself completely. Bush all worn pivot holes with Burgeon bronze bushings as needed. Clean the entire movement ultrasonically. Clean the original dial being careful not to alter its original condition. If the dial is to far gone, it will be professionally silvered and restored back to Seth Thomas dial specifications. Clean bezel, parts and chime rods by hand. Clean the outside of the original finish by hand with mild cleaners as well as the inside and apply a coat of wax by hand. I will never alter the finish or farm out the clock not knowing what is being done to the clock. This does decrease the value of a clock. Reassemble the clock, oil and lube in the proper places. Adjust chime and strike hammer sequence properly to assure smooth and even strikes at each quarter-hour and hour. Electronically regulate the beat and adjust the speed while the clock is level to ensure accuracy for many generations.
