Offered here is a genuine antique Seth Thomas mantel clock in their “Bay State” Adamantine case style – confirmed by the original stenciled model name still visible on the case back, along with the factory label. This is a handsome four-column Victorian-era shelf clock and a great piece for a collector or someone furnishing a period home. Model: “Bay State” – Adamantine line (case-back stencil confirms model name). Case: Black Adamantine (celluloid veneer over wood) finish with faux marble/tortoiseshell mottled panels on the plinths and crown. Two pairs of full round Corinthian columns with copper-toned cast metal capitals and bases. Cast bronze griffin/mask side ornaments with ring pulls (decorative “lifting handle” motif). Ornate gilt brass fretwork bezel surrounding a porcelain numeral dial, signed Seth Thomas Clock Co. Cast metal scroll feet. Original case-back label reads “Adamantine Clock, Patented September 7, 1880, ” Label No. Includes the original pendulum bob and both period brass winding keys. Age: Seth Thomas’s Adamantine line ran from the early 1880s through roughly 1910s; based on the case style and movement type, this example most likely dates to the 1880s-1900s. Condition: Clock does run, but needs a cleaning in order to keep time and strikes correctly. As with virtually all century-plus-old clocks, it has not been serviced recently and would benefit from a professional cleaning/oiling by a clock repair specialis. Please see photos for cosmetic condition, including some expected age-related wear/chipping to the Adamantine veneer at the top corners and minor wear/tearing to the original paper label on the back. We have a Antique Seth Thomas Red Adamantine 8 Day Mantle Clock Early 1900’s Runs. Description Here is a nice condition “Adamantine” finish 8 day time and strike shelf clock made by the Seth Thomas Clock Co. In Thomaston, Connecticut during the early 1900’s. This clock is in a red woodgrain style Adamantine finish which may have been designed to simulate rosewood or simply red marble. The brass bezel and dial assembly is in nice shape for its age. The celluloid dial is worn and stained giving it a genuinely aged appearance. It is a quality movement that, if properly maintained, should last many lifetimes. The “Adamantine” finish, which is a patented laminate finish from the late 1800’s, is in good shape for its age. Still, you may notice a little shrinkage at the corners and edges as well as a few minor dings, scuffs or touch-ups, which is the nature of the Adamantine finish, but all in all the condition of this cabinet is very nice. It is complete with a key and the original “boy on a fence” pendulum and is ready to place up on the. The measurements are 8 3/8″ wide x 11″ high x 5 1/2 deep. Vintage Seth Thomas Adamantine Mantel Clock – Item number 49395-4. Red Adamantine case and cleaned and buffed to a mirror finish. Solid brass bezel not overly polished to show its age. All matching original hardware – Original feet – Added surface protection to the feet. Clock case has not been altered in any way from the original. Case is ready to accept an original mechanical movement if you prefer (alignment will be necessary). Clock does have a manufacture month/date March (C) 18XX – See last photo. Clock been fitted with the most advanced quartz movement on the market with a strike similar to a cathedral gong. Gong – Strikes the hours and single strike on the half hour – This is the original mechanical movement sequence. Has 4 additional sequences. Westminster chimes 4/4 and strikes the hour. Ave Maria chimes 4/4 and strikes the hour. Westminster on the hour only chime & strike. Bim Bam strike on the hour only. Night shut-off from 11pm to 6am or, 24 hour strike, or Shut off for no chime at all. Hardware was cleaned but not overly buffed. Spade hands to match the original. Brass bezel with new paper dial and original glass. Front dial face has decorative winding arbors to simulate the look of a mechanical movement. Clock has been completely dis-assembled, cleaned of all tobacco and residue, buffed and polished, re-assembled. Operation has been tested for a minimum 30 days. While the case is in excellent condition, there are flaws to the adamantine veneer – It is not perfect after 130 years. Very elegant piece with rich sound. Smaller clock for a mantel or shelf area. Measures 10″ wide x 5 3/4″ deep x 9 1/2 high.

This is a beautiful antique Seth Thomas Adamantine mantel clock, dating back to the late 19th century. It features the iconic Adamantine finish with striking green faux-marble celluloid accents and four cream-colored columns topped with ornate Corinthian capitals. The clock sits on decorative brass lion-paw style feet and features a classic Roman numeral dial. The back retains a portion of its original paper label and shows a brass movement door with the &#######x27;ST&#######x27; logo. Inside, the mechanical movement is visible, including the bell and gong. A handwritten service note on the interior door indicates it was cleaned in 1997. It will chime if you rotate the dial, I imagine it needs service.

We have a Antique Seth Thomas Red Adamantine 8 Day Mantle Clock Early 1900’s Runs. Description Here is a nice condition “Adamantine” finish 8 day time and strike shelf clock made by the Seth Thomas Clock Co. In Thomaston, Connecticut during the early 1900’s. This clock is in a red woodgrain style Adamantine finish which may have been designed to simulate rosewood or simply red marble. The brass bezel and dial assembly is in nice shape for its age. The celluloid dial is worn and stained giving it a genuinely aged appearance. It is a quality movement that, if properly maintained, should last many lifetimes. The “Adamantine” finish, which is a patented laminate finish from the late 1800’s, is in good shape for its age. Still, you may notice a little shrinkage at the corners and edges as well as a few minor dings, scuffs or touch-ups, which is the nature of the Adamantine finish, but all in all the condition of this cabinet is very nice. It is complete with a key and the original “boy on a fence” pendulum and is ready to place up on the. The measurements are 8 3/8″ wide x 11″ high x 5 1/2 deep.
