Seth thomas mantle clock pendulum movement No. 89 (8-day) 1920’s NY, NY works. Now is working great. The chimes are load and clear. Two keys and pendulum is included. Please see actual photos and video of actual item. Some wear on edges of clock face from wear. Clock is in working order and just needs tiny push of swing arm to get started. Be careful to not over tighten springs with keys.

It’s been keeping pretty good time for a few hours but the chimes are very reluctant to engage without some help; it sounds like they will strike on the quarter hour but I can’t fully guarantee that. I once got it where it hit all four chimes simultaneously and it really sounded great. But obviously it needs work to get back to correct operation. The dial has various scratches as pictured, the wood case is very clean with a few dings, light scratches, and such, and a couple dark spots to one side (see closeup picture). It has a key and pendulum. Height is about 15″, width 10 and 1/4″ and depth 7 and 1/2.

This is a recent estate find from an avid clock collectors collection that came up for sale. This is a Rare Antique 1920’s SETH THOMAS 8 Day Gothic Art Deco Mantel Shelf Desk Clock. It has a 4 Jeweled 8 Day Brass Mechanical Wind-Up Movement that Winds and Sets from the Rear. The Dial is a Gold Brass Metal Art Deco Dial with Roman Numerals, Signed Seth Thomas 4 Jewels. The Case is a Beautiful Mahogany Footed Wood Case with The Clock Supported by a Pair of Decorative Deco Side Columns. The finish is in great condition and has a very nice vintage crackling appearance to some of it. This is a Very Rare Style and Design Clock, and will make a great addition to your collection! I did wind this and at first it didn’t take off. I leaned the clock back and it has been going ever since. I did wind it again after it stopped and it took right off again. That may be a subject to address. This will be packaged with great care.

Operating condition – I have many clocks to test and limited time to do so – Tested – This Clock runs but it did so only for a short time period i tested it on 4 different occasions and it ran from 5 mins to about 30 mins each time, my guess is the movement has never been cleaned in the last 100 years and who knows the last time it was oiled. Not Working, I can hear the motor running, but it is not keeping time. I made sure the reset bar was in place. The wood case has some paint specks on it from over the years. Scuffs/scratches on the wood case, please see all photos. Front glass is not damaged, just some paint specks.
