The guilt on the clock is absolutely perfect no flaking coming off missing scratches other than a little wear on the owl’s face it’s perfect. The clock has all its hands and the alarm works well. The time feature seems to be overwound or the spring needs replaced.

Here is a recent estate find. This is a Rare Antique Working 1870’s Early American SETH THOMAS Victorian 8 Day OGEE’Time & Strike’ Mantel Shelf Clock, made by the Seth Thomas Clock Co. This has a Victorian Rectangular Mahogany Wood Case with Reverse Painted Glass Lower Tablet and Original Label Inside. 15 3/4″ Tall x 10 1/4″ Wide x 3 1/2 Deep. The Clock has a Brass Mechanical Wind-Up’Time & Strike’ 8 Day Lyre Movement in Good Working Order, Signed S. Thomas Plymouth Conn USA. Operating condition – Tested – I have many clocks to test and limited time to do so, This clock runs but had to be shaken to get it started, so i oiled it a bit and it ran nicely but i would suggest getting the movement cleaned or keep it oiled at the very least, because who knows when if ever has that been done in the last 140ish years. Antique Circa 1860s – 1870s American Clock Company Iron Front Parlor Mantle Clock – NEEDS HELP – FINISH ME – UNUSUAL. Features – Has original finish with mother of pearl inlay 19″ tall X 13″ VERY Decorative and heavy. Prior owner was in the process of trying to complete this clock. The wood backing is era correct to the iron frame but not original to the frame but it works as a backing. I believe the iron front to be an American Clock Company front which will also fit with the backing cause it has original American Clock Co paper inside and probably why the original owner choose it for to go with the front. This tells me the movement needs a cleaning or oiling, who knows if it have ever been done in the last 140ish years. But once done should run well – Alarm functions as intended when tested – (SEE VIDEO) This clock will need a cleaning / service for long term proper operation and with the condition its in is certainly deserving of that.
