Rare antique 1850’S Seth Thomas 5 bells chime tall case grandfather clock. The 5 bells movement with marked chimes on the quarter hour and strikes on the hours. High 82″, width 19″, depth 11. The top door of cherry case is a small repaired (#18,19), otherwise is in good condition with age wear. See all photos for details. The cherry case, pendulum and weights are unoriginal parts. As you can see it wants to run. See tape measure for dimensions. Will need servicing and looks like the crutch was repaired. Case has wear and a few small pieces of veneer missing but not bad at all for its age and is very solid. Label is all but completely gone but I think the style of label puts it around early 1850’s. Here is a recent estate find. This is a Rare Restored 1850’s Antique SETH THOMAS Fancy Round Top Mantel Shelf Clock, made by the Seth Thomas Clock Company Plymouth Conn USA. It has a Beautiful Walnut Wood Round Top Beehive Case with Ebonized Base and Side Pillar Columns with Gold Gilded Trim and Finial Toppers. The Lower Glass Tablet is a Hand Painted Reverse Painted Glass Tablet with Honey Bees and Beehive Design! The Hand Painted Metal Dial has Been Professionally Restored, and the Original Seth Thomas Maker’s Label is Inside. It has a Signed Seth Thomas Brass Mechanical “Time and Strike” Key Wound Movement, which is Signed S. There is a Cathedral Coil Spring Gong Chime. There is Also a Working Cast Iron Bell Alarm. There are 2 Winding Arbors, and It includes 2 Winding Keys (One is For the Clock, and the Other for the Alarm) and a Brass Adjustable Pendulum. The Clock measures approx. 16″ Tall x 12 1/2″ Wide x 4 1/2 Deep. This Clock Runs Strong and Keeps Time, and the Alarm Works Too! The Chime Function Works, but Needs to Be Adjusted.
