VERY RARE: Antique Gothic Revival “Sharp Gothic” steeple mantel clock. These distinctive shelf clocks were highly popular in the United States from the mid to late 19th century. To find a clock like this in such good condition is a rare find. The clock features a central gabled point flanked by two distinct side pillars, resembling a church spire or steeple. It is typically crafted from mahogany or rosewood veneer. The Dial & Movement. It uses a traditional painted dial with Roman numerals and feature dual winding arbors on the lower section of the face. This indicates a mechanical spring driven, key wind mechanism 30 hour or commonly called a 1 day. The movement has been cleaned, oiled and adjusted keeping time and chiming. The Lower Door Glass. The lower portion of the door features a circular design showcasing a vibrant reverse painted hummingbird medallion surrounded by a dark teal or blue decorative background. That does not mean the clock doesn’t work, just needs to be put back in beat. There are many good videos on YouTube showing how to do this. It was made by the Seth Thomas Clock Company in Thomaston, Conn. USA right around 1920. This model features a signed Seth Thomas #120 style mechanical. Keywind, pendulum movement that has been serviced and is in good running condition, keeping time and gonging properly. The original case finish is also very nice. The case measurements are 9 ¾” wide x 29″ high x 4 deep. This clock comes complete with a key and pendulum. This helps ensure that the new owner will have a satisfying experience. Be very sure to save all packaging material if there is a problem. All sales are final, so please be sure that you will be happy by reviewing the pictures and descriptions that we provide. We honestly want you to be happy. It is nearly impossible to find one in “mint” condition. If a clock has damage from misuse, it will be noted. It has been over wound, by the previous owner and not in working order. The case is in extra nice condition. Part of an old gum label is on the top. The nickel plating has been worn off the top of case and slightly worn all over. The handle is in good order as well as the door. The movement is very clean. Has both winding keys. There are no chips cracks or breaks on the glass. The case size is 5 x 3 1/2 x 7 to the top of the handle. Please look close at the pictures as they are part of the description.
