Offering this rare and beautiful Art Nouveau mantel clock by Seth Thomas. It features a lithe fairy figure on one side of the clock’s pillar and a cherub on the other side. The fairy has a realistic face and body and moth-like wings, and the cherub is a typical Cupid-style figure with a mandolin. Nice item in good vintage condition. Missing the key but I was able to wind it and get it ticking. Appears to work well but probably needs to be tuned up and oiled. Also needs some nuts to hold the movement in place as there are rubber grommets holdin it on. The case is bronzed over what appears to be a vast spelter alloy. The faces is branded. This clock is huge, I bought it thinking it was a normal size when in fact its nearly as tall as two normal bottles of wine! The casting is sublime, its cold painted and bronzed, the ladies expression is very peaceful and serene, the hair is what I love the most, how it becomes part of the clock and can be seen from all angles. The dial is hand painted and porcelain, this would have been a very expensive piece to had made in its day.
